So I got rear ended today. (small impact)

Post by DoPeY5007 »

So I was at a red light, second in line, and the light turned green. The car in front of me delayed on going, not really sure why but whatever. Now the guy behind me decided to go based on the light and not the cars in front of him. So of course he ran into me......

The kicker is my 7 month old $1,200 Mountain bike was on the back of the car.... (I haven't paid a dime for it yet as well, as I got 12 months no interest, no payments)

So the bike took most of the impact. My bike rack is "totaled". The bike wont even roll. Both rims are bent too much. The rack pushed into the trunk and put two dents, the bumper got scratched, and the spoiler got scratched.

Progressive will call me back tomorrow to discuss further.

that sucks...glad the bike saved the car. i'm STILL dealing with the insurance after my accident (and the other driver was determined 100% liable). it's all such a hassle.

it's a pet peeve of mine...the drivers that "go" whenever they see green. doesn't matter if it's a left turn arrow and they are in the lane next to that...the car across the street, etc. they are like dogs after a treat...keep trying to lunge forward. haha

hope it all works out quickly for you. insurance will definitely cover it, since the other driver rear-ended you. if he was uninsured, then it might be your homeowners that covers it and not your auto though (for the bike portion).

So it looks like his Ins. should be covering the bike and rack.

I had to fax receipts to them today

So Im guessing you get to keep your old one? If so you might be able to repair it and sell it or at least use it for a parts bike.

So no big shock, his insurance company called me today and wants an est. for the repairs to the bike.

I am going our of town tomorrow, so I will not be able to take the bike in until 2/14.

That looks like a fancy bike.. like its going to be cheaper to just get a new one then to try and fix that one. I will never be straight again.
