webcam recommendations?

Post by darcy »

i am so annoyed @ myself 'cause i made some notes w/links, and now i cannot find it.

anyway,,,

will be used w/Dell Inspiron laptop
and
will be used w/Skype.

i did visit Dell site and also the Skype forums.
i saw 1 on Dell site, but when i checked reviews, saw many comments about that particular webcam always wanting to set up for MSN and having probs setting it up w/Skype.

i saw that some had inbuilt microphones and some did not.
i saw that some required drivers and some did not.

i haven't a clue as to webcams or what i should look for, ~ just want something in a decent price range that will work w/Skype, with a laptop.

{ i wouldn't be bothering w/webcams, but i just got back in touch w/my cousin in europe, and she suggested it. }

help, pls!

thank you! : )

i have both the vx-3000 and vx-7000...they work well and the software you install with them is fairly flexible.

thank you for giving me somewhere to start, b-1 and reno :)

the vx-3000 or 5000 is more the price range i can afford right now.

i have Intel Core Duo 1.66Hz, should be ok?

do you use a headset/headphones w/either of those?

i've used both the built in mic and a headset for mine. one is for work (video conferencing)...the other i've used with live messenger, etc and haven't had a problem. i think that cpu should be fine (although i haven't looked at the specs required).

I find the headphone/microphone to be the easiest for communicating...unless you're gonna be dancing around or something.

That's based on P4 SINGLE core CPUs.. You have a Dual Core, you should be fine with either one. Your CPU can run circles around a P4 of the recommended specs for the cams.
