What to do with old CRT monitors?

Post by EvilHorace »

I have a couple here that although were nice in their day, still work, they now just take up space and I'll never use them anymore. Do they have any value to anyone or should I just recycle them?

Well, I don't know anyone who cares to do garage/yard sales anymore so on Craigslist, are they selling or being given away?

maybe you can donate the working monitors to something...that way you get a small tax deduction and don't have to deal with the craigslist annoyances.* double-win.

*annoyances being all the people that always want a little more for nothing. you could offer the monitors for free...and you'll still get emails asking if you can deliver, etc. lol

Yeah, then I can set it up, walk their dog, shovel the snow, etc :)

Actually, if I keep those and all my other outdated electronic parts long enough, I could sell them to an antique store someday.

around here on Craiglist we put "curb alert" in the caption. Stuff disappears right fast.

I can't even give them away with charity systems anymore. If no one wants them I take them to the county mini dump. They have a separate recycling bin for home electronics.

Yeah, no one really wants these things anymore, not unless you are giving away a whole charity PC and it comes with it. I don't blame them, I was certainly glad to get away from CRT.

On trash day there are people who cruise around looking for "the good stuff" so I know that all I need to do is just put them out front and within no time, they'll be gone.
