time for a new router :(

i think this time im going to getaway from linksys . it has been buggy for a long time. now its really starting to drop signals even when you have it hard wired to the computers.

I'll experience that with mine too on occasion with my old SMC router. Sometimes more often than others and I'll need to unplug it (reboot) to get it working again. It might be something to do with Roadrunner more than the router, being intermittant.

it is the router .just updated to a belkin n wireless problem is gone !

BELKIN? Ugh. Has to be one of the worst routers on the market.

I've had very good luck with Linksys or Netgear. Of course over the years things wear out, and wether you realize it or not routers take a lot of surges during thunder storms.

Most of the time just updating the firmware will fix a flaky router, but sometimes it just has to be replaced.

I've had a D-link that I just bought on a whim that's been rock solid for about 5 years now (both wired & wireless).

I know, not much issues with Linksys, Netgear no probs. But the more recent models of Netgear are buggy as hell. Last one they put out that is even workable is the Rangemax WPN824 model. Their entire "N" series is way too buggy.

this belkin was very easy to setup . I know how bad belkin can be but i never have been happy with the linksys .and the netgear the company only offer a 1 rear warrienty .if they wont warrienty as long as the next competitors. then i sure wasn't going to buy it .if they didnt have faith in there goods why should I.

Hey Mike, you jinxed me, the hurricane blew through NJ and wiped mine out. Anybody have a recommendation for a quality wired only (have a good access point) router? My last one was a Linksys and am researching around but nothing is tickling my fancy...

Forget finding a wired only unless you find one used. they just don't make them much anymore. The price of a wireless is about the same as a wired only even when you can find them.

Get a good price on a wireless router and just disable the wireless if you don't need it.

I know, Netgear crapified their warranty too. They used to offer 3 years on their original 'G' routers and before, then suddenly after a new version, it disappeared.

Ofcourse they do, not all so many shop there for that, probably old models still on the shelf. Any wired ones you tend to find now are either as much as wireless ones or the cheapo brand types you likely don't want.
