good choice. the PQ is pretty good on those from what I've seen.
I find the pq downright amazing...I was watching the nba playoff game last nite and I actually flinched when they turned on the backboard camera when one of those guys was going up...you can actually see what the people in the stands are eating....I had never really seen much HD tv before...

Hey cool John!
I chose a panisonic plasma also after a lot of looking. Reasons were:
No bulb to replace. 60,000 hours is a long time and don't even use it
everyday. Like you said mainly for movies and and HD events (nascar etc)
and having freinds over.
It might outlive me! So far I love it
As for veiwing angle, at the store I didn't see much differance between
lcd and plasma.. Might be me but I swear plasma had a very slight edge.
DLP sheened pretty bad so didn't consinder them and moved on.
Picked the Panisonic after all. It just stuck out over the others for the
price.. Paid 1,399 (this is a while back) and sadly it not a 1080 but a 720..
Thats OK. It looks great to me and freinds ant complaing LOL!
Dont have any hd dvds anyway.. Some day I'll get a 1080.
And ya there heavy!! Mine's a 50" and paid for setup and delivery but
got the stand later. Took a friend and I to lift it two feet LOL.
Nuthin to hang on to!
Enjoy John! Glad ya did it
And oh.. I went from a 27" console to that. Ya. I fliched too a bunch.

GeForce GTX 970
AMD FX 8350 8 core Processor
16 GIG
Seems plenty good for gaming!

when I went to the store I didn't really see any problems with viewing most of the lcds from an angle. the pannie just seemed to have the best picture and was rated high by CR for reliability. I got a 5 year warranty - too many little parts - this puppy has like 5 exhaust fans at the top of the case... I'm hoping it will fail in 4 yrs 11 months and they have to give me a holodeck
to replace it.
