mouse question : )

Post by darcy »

i am looking to buy spare mouse, nothing fancy.

i am seeing these 2 on sale:

logitech LX8 Cordless Laser Mouse
http://www.buy.com/prod/logitech-lx8-co ... 83270.html
{ offer expires 4/26/08 }

or

logitech V320 Optical Cordless Mouse
http://www.buy.com/prod/logitech-v320-o ... 74756.html
{ i like that it has storable micro-receiver }
i do not @ all mind a small mouse, i am quite used to it, and i do not need loads of buttons : )

both are w/free shipping @ $14.99 after MIR.

i have been using a small logitech notebook optical mouse - M-UV94, for about 3 yrs, and am quite comfy w/it.

i have never had a cordless mouse.

question: what is the diff 'twixt cordless optical and cordless laser mouse? which would be better?

and a 2nd, sillier question: i am left-handed, w/no USB ports on left side of laptop. does that matter @ all?

thank you : )

I happen to have the cordless version for my laptop. What's nice is that the receiver is very small - about an inch long, and the width of a USB slot. It tucks inside the mouse when not in use and when you tuck it inside it automatically turns the power off on the mouse.

Nice mouse. No complaints other than it's easy to misplace the receiver.

I have the logitech LX8 Cordless Laser Mouse and it's great. It will work fine for you on either side of the laptop. It has great range.

logitech V320 Optical Cordless Mouse
I've used this one myself. It's very responsive & feels like it's well built. It was too small for my tastes, but considering that it was comfortable. The laser isn't likely important unless you plan on using it for photoshop work or gaming.

Gotta love Logitech, I sure do :P In seriousness though, they are pretty good for keyboards and mice.

When getting the mouse, I would suggest getting some rechargeable batteries and a charger for it. Optical mice sure do tend to eat batteries. And you know at some point, you will forget to turn it off.
When all else fails, replace the user.

I never liked my optical mouse for gaming or photoshop, maybe its because it was a cheapie but it never tracked minute changes well, so if I was erasing along an edge I would be likely to erase into the part I want to keep and have to start over.

Modern optical mice are just as good, and usually better than ball mice. I'd never go back to a ball.
