my first Dell BITCH !

Post by renovation »

working on one that I need to do a full recovery on . now I find the wireless keyboards wont let me start it . it's not reading the commands or fast enough to react when you use the CTRL- f11 keys on the dell screen . so i need a usb keyboard as there is no ps2 connector on a Dell 5150 Dimension desk top. :p lease: this sucks as all i have here is ps2 keyboards or wireless ones.
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me. :help

get used to it bud. Very few modern PCs are sold with PS/2 jacks anymore. I'm surprised this is your first one. Everyone should have a USB keyboard lying around.

Go to the store and invest in a USB to PS/2 adapter. It costs $5 - $15 usually. I saw them at BigLots for $3 once and bought a bunch of them. I keep one in my tool bag and another on my bench. Office Depot has them for $13: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/582005/Adapter/

It's a cable that plugs into a USB jack and has two PS2 connectors on the other end so you can connect a regular PS/2 mouse & keyboard to any PC that either has only USB ports or has broken or dead PS/2 ports. Works very well. Had a client the other day who actually broke his PS/2 jacks when he moved his computer and he thought he was going to have to buy a new rig. Gave him one of those and he was up and running again.

True, but those cards might not be able to control the bios. Always should have a basic USB keyboard around, I have a Microsoft one I got so long ago I use for such occasions.

Can't blame them for removing the ports, there is no need for them these days, and for 2 of those ports, you can have 4 USB.
