Help running ISO file

With what do I run an ISO file? I have a program with an .ISO extension and I can't open it.

I believe all you need to do with an ISO, is burn it to a disc and it becomes a program disc. Its a disc image. I used Nero to do it in the past. Should still work I'm sure, just haven't done it for awhile and have that senior memory problem...

a free program like Daemon Tools can be used to mount .iso files.

the .iso extension relates to a disc image format, whether a cd or dvd.

An ISO is an image of a CD (or DVD). You can mount it as a virtual drive using a virtual CD app like Daemon Tools which everyone mentioned, or just burn it to a CD. I use Alcohol 120 to burn ISO.

I have Daemon Tools. I don't exactly understand how it works because it's not letting me open the ISO file with it. Do I actually need to still burn it to a CD?

You don't open the file with Daemon, you burn it to disk. During the burn it is converted to a disc image. Not sure how daemon works but alcohol 120 works and so does nero and others also.

You sure can open it with Daemon Tools. You just mount it. If you have Daemon loaded, then you just go to the icon in the task bar, left click it, select the drive (it will show "no media"), & then select the file you want to mount. Then the computer will think that the file is actually a CD in a drive on your computer.

Also, if you only need files off of it, WinRAR can pull what you need off.

Thanks for clarifying that Normalicy...I've never used Daemon myself so wasn't sure, but I always used the other methods for disk use. Was hoping someone would correct me on the daemon part. Alcohol 120 and Nero always worked well for me, but I burned with them cuz I didn't want the files on my puter.

daemon tools is the easiest way to do it. If you want files off of the iso you dont have to unrar it with winrar, just mount it in daemon tools and then explore the drive once its mounted like you would any other CD rom. Good thing about doing it this way is you dont end up with a bunch of crap you didnt want, just the files you wanted.

Yeah, that's the good thing about Daemon, you can test your iso before you burn it.

Just open Daemon Tools and click open then locate your iso file.

Daemon Tools should put a little icon in your system tray. Right click on it and "mount" disk(locate your iso file).
