My wife calls @ 5 at work and asks if I'm leaving. I'm glad she did because I had lost track of time revising a proceedure sheet. Anyway, she tells me she goes to loose the computer and the mouse was frozen and the computer would not shut off. So she hard powers it off and reboots. Then she gets a windows system error asking to insert a disk. She tries again. NOTHING! No display whatsoever. I get home an hour and a half later and it won't start for me either. So I check all connections and reseat the video card, NO DISPLAY! I remove the card, clear the bios, nothing. By the way the fans are turning and the HD's are powered. I find an old PCI video card (Graphics Blaster 4MB RAM
So, it's not the video card. I put the other card back and mess with the memory sticks, NOTHING!
I'm sick of working on my own stuff. My guess is that the motherboard is shot. I've had it and I'm ordering a dell. If anyone is interested in the ramaining parts, let me know and I'll place them in the sales section.
THIS IS THE BEST PART:
I pull out my old Packard Bell C110 and plug it in. This thing has been setting in a closet gathering dust. I kept it because my mom and dad bought it for me my 2nd year of college and it's sentimental.
WORKS FINE!
Can anyone recommend a good price on a PC. I don't get a chance to game much anymore so I'm looking for something with good multimedia capabilities. I record live concerts over and share them on dimeadozen.com so I need a good sound card.
UPDATE:
I took it to work Friday so a friend a work could swap out part to see what exactly went bad:
CPU: OK
Video Card: OK
Memory: OK
Power Supply: Tests OK with his tester.
That leaves only the Motherboard.
