When you connect the iPod, leave the Device Manager open. If you see an unknown device appear, or a device for the iPod appears with an error, uninstall it, then right click the Computer device (the top most item in the device manager tree) and select "Scan for hardware changes". That should force it to redetect everything and install new drivers.

Nothing, I put my jumpdrive in with device manager open, and it pops up. I then inserted my IPOD cable after "Safely Removing Hardware" no response from from device manager. When I check Properties on "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller Properties, the advanced tab shows the window "Bandwidth-consuming devices

System reserved the Bandwidth Used is 11%

I have the device manager window that shows the USB port "Power Tab" and when I plug the IPOD in it shows 0 mA

When I check the USB port right above it that I have my Linksys USB ethernet attached it shows 200 mA

There is a total of 500mA available per port. I doubt the IPOD uses more than that.

But no new device appears under Universal Serial Bus Controllers when you plug in the iPod? If not, I'm stumped.

Yes. I'm not one to let something like this get the best of me. I am trying to narrow things down. Both IPODs work, but none when attached USB. All USB's do work with every USB device I use on the PC.

I feel like backing up everything and re-installing the whole computer. Alot of work if it doesn't pay off.

Something that might be worth a shot is to try a USB 2.0 add in card... Would be a cheap/possible fix and prevent you from reinstalling and not getting any results..
