Call Dell tech support. Most of their monitors have a 3 year warranty. Some have 4. The monitor warranty is NOT tied in to the system warranty if you bought it in a bundle.

Dell usually does an advanced RMA - they'll send you the replacement monitor right away and you send back the old one in the same box the new one comes in.

I'd still go to the website and enter the service tag and see what they say. We RMA dell monitors all the time at work and they never ask who you are.

Okay, first of all you don't necessarily have to be the original owner. Second, there is not always a service tag number (you should look and make sure though, it's a small black sticker.

Up until a few years ago, if you didn't buy the monitor bundled with a pc, it didn't have a service tag number. Now they all do.

I'd call Dell, give them the serial number, and ask them if it's under warranty.

Call them and talk to them. If you bought your monitor alone without a PC then it's not unusual not to have an express service code. Just call them and tell them when you bought it and go through the routine. Might still be covered.
