Wow! I knew the core 2 duo was faster with 2 x1900 XTs but I didn't think it would make that much of a difference with one 7900 GT. Definitely worth considering for a new system.

You can say it all you want but it doesn't make it true. On the other hand the CPUs have to be available in the retail channel and you still need a motherboard for it.
The ASRock 775Dual-VSTA MB for $55 with an overclocked E6400 for $224 would be an interesting option.
