I am going to buy my gf a laptop for her birthday. She wants something with a widescreen. She mostly uses her laptop for surfing, mp3 player etc.
Any recommendations or ones to stay away from?
She does not do any gaming but does watch DVDs sometimes, will the typical integrated video be fine, or should I get something with upgraded video?
On Dell laptops, I see they are offering "Truelife" screens but didn't really explain what that is. ??
Thanks
What lapto to buy

I really don't know what Truelife means - probably just they're markettng hype for image quality. I like Dells, but I highly recommend you get the "On-Site" warranty of at least 2 years. That way something fails like the HDD they come and replace it and you don't have to mail out the lappy.
Your basic Intel integrated video is just fine for a non-gamer. Realistically most people also don't need more than 1024x768 on a lappy.
The E1505 is a nice all-around lappy.
There's a $300 off $999+ coupon here on Gotapex. Sweet price for this lappy. It expires the 18th.

$300 off $999+ SELECT Inspiron notebook purchases, excluding XPS. Use code: ZMF9SLM??8H3CS
* 15.4" Widescreen Inspiron E1505 with Dual Core processor and 80GB HD for $699, just add $50 worth of upgrades (the 8x DVD burner is just above $50)!:

check out the inspiron 6400 which is the same as the 5150 when I was buying a lappie at the office it ended up being about $300 cheaper going through SB - I ended up getting one of these for myself

they had a 339 rebate running on the 4 yr warranty + drop it coverage which is really attractive on a lappy
