System was ruinning fine. XP, SP2, all updates.
User decided to uninstall sp2.
now system blue screens on boot.
Went to do a repair install but in there it says unknown partition. What gives?
Help ideas?

Ouch. SP2 uninstalls are risky. SP2 is more like an OS upgrade. It usually isn't a good idea. That;s why I ghost or Acronis a drive before upgrading to SP2.
Try a chkdsk with sector scan either from the recovery console or a BartPE disk and then a repair install as Ego suggests.
The question will be whether to use an SP1 or SP2 disk for the repair. I'd recommend SP2.

Yah, I had one on Tuesday that was running just fine then all of a sudden didn't want to boot.. Tried to do a repair, unknown partition.. Ran chkdks /r and it was back to normal.. So who knows what happened.. Hopefully you can get it working.

might want to try Winternals??? I have had that work a few times..
tried a Bart PE.. didn't get the right copy or something.. no real tools there for me to use..
Also.. just a standard repair install of XP.. w/ a SP2 disk..
Have a laptop at the shop I am going to be doing this on in the moring.. along w/ 2 mobo/cpu/psu swaps where ppl have fried their box's..
