looks like this has fizzled big time - no appreciable difference with socket 939

Is that really a big surprise, though? Most real-world tests showed that the move from socket 754 to 939 (All else equal) wasn't that big a performance jump either. The kicker here is how much cheaper DDR2 is becoming compared to DDR.
