dead psu?

Post by Shadow250 »

came home from work today and pressed the power button. nada happened. unplugged psu made a chirp noise. reset bios, nada plugged it back in, made the same chirp noise. also seems like it had a green indicator on the board its not on now. funny it shut down ok last time it was on and no freezing or other odd malfunctions. im gonna check the pwr switch tomorrow, thats about all i can test i guess.
anyone have any other opinions? its an msi neo 2 939pin 1 gb corsair xms 400mhz ddr and 3200 winchester core cpu i think.

well ill be damned. it was the psu. popped a new one and it comes on. ill finish installing it tomorrow. odd that it gave no warning at all. upon a postmortem of the psu lo and behold i find several bulging caps. it didnt even last a year. as i think back a few weeks ago it gave me an instopt error. that was probly my warning sign. but i took it as windows just being windows as usual
