Shared documents not shared?

Post by Key Keeper »

Got three machines here at the house running and I cant access my shared documents on my main rig from either of the two machines. Gives me some crap about not enough storage space on this server to process the comand. WTF! Anyone run into this problem before and know how to fix it? I ran the network wizard a couple times, checked my firewall settings compared to the other machines, and made sure they were all on the same workgroup of course.

you have a 3rd party file server or is it all thru windows?

how are the partitions set up on your HDD on your main rig?

XP pro, one partition on main rig. Not using any third party networking software, just windows.

Use the fix here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177078/

And please post whether or not you're running Norton AV on the systems with the shared folders so I can have some more ammunition to use on people who ask why I hate Norton.

Yeah................................................running Symantec Corp Client v10.02 on all the machines. Fixed it by creating the registry key and setting the value to 21. Wouldnt work any lower.
I uninstalled symantec before I created teh key and it worked fine after that, reinstalled and back to square one. Then I created and edited the key and no more problems. Saw the post by Vectra on the same problem. Realized my lappy was acting the same way (installed v10.02 today). Created the same key and value and it started working fine.
