Yah, Lite-On and NEC are my two main brands.. I did pick up a few Pioneer's for the three builds I'm doing right now since the price wasn't much different. I'll let you guys know how they work out.

I guess the LiteOn it is then.
I do have a Maddog which is a NEC with a different sticker on it, but a friend wants a DVD burner but does not have the money so I suggested I'll upgrade mine and he can have my old one. I sure hope the Liteon comes with a full version of NERO.

I've had bad luck with Lite-On drives in the past, but it's been a while since I've used them. They seem pretty well-rated now. Most Sony-brand opticals are rebadged Lite-Ons.
As for the Asus, as far as I know Asus doesn't actually manufacture optical drives, they just re-brand.
OTOH, I have two NEC drives (a "Mad Dog" ND-2510) and a 3550, and both work very well for me.
