End of year thread: Tally up the dead parts!

Post by sbp »

Yes, its that time again so please list the PC parts that have died on you or have been killed. Image

The power supply decides to go out with a bang, your videocard gets partially fried cause the fan stopped working, the hard drive crashes and can't be revived.

SCSI cable
My very old Plextor 32x SCSI reader that I got way back in 1997 finally bit the dust and had to toss it.

Most of ya'll should get a kick of this

I have a computer at work and all it is used for is service manuals. It is a bare bones sys. But the hd only 4.3 GIG not big enough to install new manual. I did not want to wait on shipping but wanted cheep 20 GIG. Found oly one in town at computer store !!USED!! copied data, opend, and formated 3 times at store and worked fine In stalled in computer and installed OS. During reboot started makeing god awful racket. I'd say it bit the dust. Sounds like a bent blade on fan hitting cage.

Still have hd if any one wants to pay shipping on Hit... no Fujitsu paper weight??? :P
If it has wheels it can be fixed... unless it is a

I wrecked a Radeon 9800. Bitch is, I don't know what I did. I was changing the heatsink, taking all of the normal ESD precautions, yet the damn thing was still b0rked afterwards.

2005 has been better for me, just two old hard drives :) Retail value, maybe $15 bucks.

Compared to 2004, retail loss of about $800
