a few questions

Post by lewis1987 »

i am planning on buying a new case and also want to buy a new power supply some were around 500 watts. what is a good make of psu to go for? can you just swap the psu`s straight over or do they have to be compatible. i was also think about water cooling is it good, is it worth buying and can there be any problems leaking ect.

I like Antec cases and power supplies. Thermaltake also makes some good ones. 500 watts is really a lot. As for water cooling, I don't think it's worth the expense to do it, unless you plan on doing extreme overclocking. That's just my .02 :)

I agree whole heartedly with Nitro on everything. I have an Antec case right now, and I love it. For the PSU, you really only need 500 Watts if you're running an SLI or Crossfire rig with a lot of other things. 300-400 should suffice rather well. And brand wise, I'd go for Antec or Enermax. Whatever you do, don't get cheap generic PSUs. You'll pay later. And Water cooling... you'll be fine with air, unless, as Nitro said, you're overclocking, and a hell of a lot.

throw my opinion in here.. kinda echoing the previous posts..

Antec.. they have been good to me.. I bought a cheap case.. and quickly replaced it with a Antec..

PSU.. get the best you can afford.. Antec.. Enermax.. Thermaltake.. just to name a few..

I have only built a few pc's.. ok... ok.. a few thousand.. seriously.. about 3000 or so.. and there are certain things I insist on for my personal box's.. good case.. good PSU.. hell good everything.. but the case.. and the PSU.. must be the best you can afford..

Just because I am an a$$hole.. doesn't mean I don't care..

unless you are tight on space or you want to carry it around to lan parties and whatnot, you should go for a full tower. antec soho series are good cases, i have 3 of them. there are different flavors of these cases, here is one below:

one of the many good things about that particular one is that it includes a quality PSU. not bad for the price, and you can easily find some variation of them in a retail store like compusa.
