I think that what he meant by "making him dumb" is that while stoned, he certainly is, not that it did permanent damage like chemical type drugs can do (too much LSD for example, watch Ozzie Ozborn). I can't speak for everyone but back in the day, if stoned while in HS, I wasn't going to be doing well on any tests. When stoned, one is generally not thinking as well as one could. I've never worked stoned in any job that required thinking and/or responsibilty such as what I do now but I've worked with a few who opted to get high and then screw things up as a result, never good.

honestly... i disagree with the against Drugs thing you guys are saying because.. Pot is a safe drug you can not O.D. on it, and Beer you can get alchohol poisoning and possibley Die. which Pot you can not get hurt in anyway. "Quote" It is bad in the sense that its like smoking Cigs. but the air you breath is no better? it is MORE healthy then Beer!!...for a fact!...Beer causes mental damage in time. Pot is also cheaper then beer :) ... and you all can not say that you have not or do not drink beer, so if you think about it... you all have Done drugs before... "beer" its worse then Pot... it has a bigger side affect and it causes more deaths and problems in the world then Pot ever has and will. Pot is a Smoothing/Calming drug and it makes you feel good. Not out of control like "Beer".

ps. I don't mean to affend anyone if i did. If so i apologize, But a facts a fact!

i got no problem with pot... its natural just like tabaco. What gets me is what makes tabaco any better then pot? For that matter... what it people start smoking raw pinecones to get high? then whats the government going to do... burn them all down?

hahaha... First Question do you smoke Pot? or have you?... if so, then you would know why people should choose that over Smoking... Smoking is a nicotine drug yes i agree, but... you do not get a rush from cigs. like you would pot. its the feeling people enjoy from Pot. Smoking Cigs. is almost pointless... smoking Pot gives you something to Party with and have alittle fun. Lets see you party on puffin Cigs. ;) haha just saying, you get alot more out of Pot then Cigs. (Completely my Opinion)

/stands at podium and recites; my name is Gand1 and I smoke pot.

Alright I guess I'm going to be the first to admit to smoking pot still once in a while. I'm not going to preach to anyone on the good of it because everyone has heard the stupid arguments of why it should or should not be legal or it's evil or not blah blah blah.

Here's the thing, I know I don't need it, I don't smoke often, and it's only occasionally. I do prefer it over alcohol though. I don't get the munchies and I refuse to let it effect me at work, yes I'm a professional in the working world environment. My wife knows my habit and she will be the first to put the smack down on me if it ever became a problem, she doesn't smoke it. I refuse to even buy it and will only share what someone else may have.

I feel if I can keep my life in check and not hurt or effect anyone with my usage then it's fine with me. I also feel it should be legal. I do admit it makes you lazy for a little while afterwards but not long. After all if it made me lazy I would not be able to run the department and employees I am in charge of.

The one argument I have though for the ones that say it's more harmful than cigarettes, how many drags do you get out of a cigarette? It takes two tokes for me with pot once in a blue moon. Most people that I know who smoke cigarettes, smoke ALL DAY!!! Even if pot has more tar and other bad stuff in it, it is not as much as people with a regular smoking habit.

On the other hand there is no good excuse for doing drugs. Eh, maybe I'm just being silly about my life but I just got back from a full physical and my doctor likes how my health is. Go figure!

/Steps away from podium
Next!

Now on the concern of other drugs....

There is a lot of BAD crap out there and would not touch any of it with your ten foot pole!!! There are some things that people should not mess with and %99.9 of the drugs out there ARE evil. Pot might be a "gateway " drug for individuals with weak will and that is why it's not good. But then again if you have a weak will, alchohol or cigarettes are just as bad for you.

hmm is alcohol that bad? ive been drinking since 2 o clock today spent 60 quid average drink of double vodka and coke for £3.20, which ive been drinking all day, its probably a bit like pot but i disagree with smoking, do you know why?

cause when you smoke you harm the ppl around you and the enviroment when you drink you just harm yourself....and i do not believe drink makes you violent if anything it calms you down and thats how people die from it it slows down your heart rate, people who are violent with it are violent people and drink is no exscuse. jesus just worked it out ive had over 18 drinks im off too bed...

ps

the reason ive been out this long is cause its survival at the university its meant to be form 11am to 4 am, but i opted to get the last bus at 1105.

What you've hypothetically experminted with in your youth? How your immediate family influenced you view on them

I like the way you put that. :)

I skimmed through this thread and read some very good and honest comments. I have tried drugs in the "cough" '70's and fortunately I have never had an addiction problem. Friends would always supply them (I nerver paid) and I saw how wasted and incoherent they were, then realized it was doing nothing for me other than the same crap. "Peer pressure" is as we all know very real. I usually took them only to "fit in". Otherwise be thought of as "un-cool".

Did pot, hash and sometimes pcp. A few others I was never sure what they were. Got drinks spiked with acid. Verry bad crap!

It was only around a year of being around the wrong people did I get myself away from them. Felt soo much better being aware of whats going on around me. Then about 10 years later in vegas I met too many females who were on crystal. They'd do anything once they had some, so I kinda got addicted to being around those types. Then realized what a dead-in they were. Zero personality and they try draining your money.

Met a lot of people through the years who do drugs and none ever amounted to anything. Several landed in jail. Others just losers. And of course always broke. Whacko personalities, unpredictable and just plain stupid acting. Being and acting "stoned" is not cool at all.

Drugs, ARE a dead-in amigo. ;) I suggest to surround yourself with those who do NOT do drugs. The ones who do are the real "un-cool" ones. ;) They just can't accept that sad fact. And want to drag others down with them. But, you have a choice. You make it, not them.
