NWS possibly... Open discussion concerning drugs

Post by Karchiveur »

Alright, here goes nothing.

I know PCA is a family friendly forum. (other than the vodka comments) :)

Around my place, it's rare to have an open discussion about drugs. I'm not sure if this is allowed or not.. if not.. lmk.

I was wondering what everyone's views were on drugs, from pot to meth... to Perscription abuse..anything.

Lately meth has become popular around my area... (slowly moving north)

And yes, to be honest I have smoked pot, on more than one occasion. I don't have any complaints, other than the need for sleep afterwards.

Basically I'm wondering if you guys will have an open talk about it.

Have you witnessed drugs take over a friend or family member? How it did, how it grew into a bigger problem.

What you've hypothetically experminted with in your youth? How your immediate family influenced you view on them.

Sure theres many other foums that i could turn to, to get talk about this, but they are mainly full of people my age, all immature, braggin about this and that. The idea of me posting here is to avoid all that.

Some have had kids and they've moved out already.. have alot more knowalge, and greater opinions...

If you view this post, it only takes a minute to post a reply to it, any input is appreciated!

Thx,

and to end, here a poem which says it all
_________________________________________
Crystal Meth Poem

I destroy homes, I tear families apart,
I take your children, and that's just the start.

I'm more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold,
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.

If you need me, remember I'm easily found,
I live all around you - in schools and in town

I live with the rich, I live with the poor,
I live down the street, and maybe next door.

I'm made in a lab, but not like you think,
I can be made under the kitchen sink.

In your child's closet, and even in the woods,
If this scares you to death, well it certainly should.

I have many names, but there's one you know best,
I'm sure you've heard of me, my name is crystal meth.

My power is awesome, try me you'll see,
But if you do, you may never break free.

Just try me once and I might let you go,
But try me twice, and I'll own your soul.

When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie,
You do what you have to -- just to get high.

The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms
Will be worth the pleasure you'll feel in your arms.

You'll lie to your mother, you'll steal from your dad,
When you see their tears, you should feel sad.

But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised,
I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways.

I take kids from parents, and parents from kids,
I turn people from God, and separate friends.

I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride,
I'll be with you always -- right by your side.

You'll give up everything - your family, your home,
Your friends, your money, then you'll be alone.

I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give,
When I'm finished with you, you'll be lucky to live.

If you try me be warned - this is no game,
If given the chance, I'll drive you insane.

I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind,
I'll own you completely, your soul will be mine.

The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed,
The voices you'll hear, from inside your head.

The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see,
I want you to know, these are all gifts from me.

But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart,
That you are mine, and we shall not part.

You'll regret that you tried me, they always do,
But you came to me, not I to you.

You knew this would happen, many times you were told,
But you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.

You could have said no, and just walked away,
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?

I'll be your master, you will be my slave,
I'll even go with you, when you go to your grave.

Now that you have met me, what will you do?
Will you try me or not? It's all up to you.

I can bring you more misery than words can tell,
Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.
______________________________________

sorry this post is a little long, but I find it very importent that you get the point before it is to late.
Many people that are addicted to meth started out with it because it was the cool thing to do. Or because it is cheap. (or can be made at home in your own kitchen)
But please stay away fom it.
All the best from the west!

:s aid: :s aid: :s aid: :s aid: :s aid:

personally ive never took any drugs at all havnt even tried smoking, and ive never felt the need to. i do disagree with the consumption of any sort of drug except mabye alchohol (in moderate quantities, and stupid amounts every once in a while, just so you remember why you dont drink that much :) )

i would just stay away from them, many ppl say you should try something first, but why try if your fine the way that you are. o and stay away from meth...that poems creepy :(

I'll keep it simple but having been there, done that (no serious stuff, addiction types) and yes, I've seen drugs do tragic things to others, I'd highly advise to never do any street drugs, not even pot. People who smoke pot think the stuff is harmless, think it's not effecting you BUT.....WRONG! The stuff makes you spacey, lazy and seriously lowers motivation (not to mention what it does to your lungs, worse than cigs). It does you no real good. I havent done any street drugs in many, many years but I regret ever doing any of it now, looking back as it did me no good and perhaps without it, I might have been more motivated back then and perhaps done things differently.
I can tell when people at work smoke pot (after hours) too as they're generally people who aren't working at 100% of how they should be, they're seemingly mentally slower (spacey) as a result of the after hours activities, it shows and those who need to deal with them suffer too.
Alcohol abuse is just as bad so hopefully people won't try comparing pot to alcohol as if one's so much better, "healthier".

Excellent responses guys :)

I think you can find lots of negative things about doing drugs. I have never heard of anything positive about doing drugs. Some times people "think" the temporary feeling they get are positive, but later realize that was just the first step in their downward spiral in life.

There is nothing good that can come from doing drugs. Is it worth the risk? Ask a reformed drug addict that has been arrested for drugs years back how hard it is to get a job with a drug arrest on your record.

One screwup at an early age can stay with you a lifetime.

crystal=russian roulette with a semiauto

this stuff is made in trailers, sheds and basements and lots of very nasty things are used to make it. when the cops find a meth lab it is instantly classified as a very hazardous waste site and quarantined. the people who make it leave all kinds of very bad stuff in it.

In my work I daily deal with folks whose lives have totally gone down the tubes because of drugs. 16 year old whitebread kids shooting heroin, doing tricks for crack and meth (boys and girls). And as Nitro said, once you get that first felony arrest you're screwed jobwise forever.

a lot of the recent scientific research indicates a genetic predisposition to drug addiction and alcoholism...google drugs and serotonin reuptake inhibitors if you have a couple of weeks to read about it.

someone brought in a printer to the computer repair place next door....they discovered it wasn't working because there was a crack pipe wedged behind the printhead......doesn't sound like a fun way to live, does it?

'nuff said

I started smoking pot when I was 14 yr old and from that time until I got clean at the age of 38 yrs old I did just about every drug I can think of with the exception of heroin. With that one exception if you could smoke it, pop it, or snort it I did it. I was one of the very few lucky ones who got out of the drug scene and did not have a criminal record and I never lost a job over drugs or anything like that. I did loose all my teeth from the habit of smearing coke or meth on my gums and two different Doctors have told me that the use of drugs and being out doors with diolated eyes contributed to the fact that I am legally blind now. When I think about the thousands of $$$$ I wasted and the endless list of STUPID things I did because of or for drugs it makes me sick. All that and I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I know people who paid a much higher price for their drug use in the form of lost jobs, being thrown in jail, and yes even the ultimae price of death.

Druggies will tell you all the benefits of drugs and that they can handle them and are too smart to let drugs rule or ruin their lifes. They are IGNORANT and WRONG. Even an adult who only casually uses the mildest of drugs like pot can have his/her life changed in the blink of an eye by the drug. Something has simple as a traffic stop can result in more serious consquences if you happen to have pot in the car. Failing a drug test at work can cost you a job. The list goes on forever. To sum it up I have been there done that and thank God every day that I escaped the lifestyle while I still had a life worth living. The odds were against me and it was only a matter of time before I would have lost that if I continued on that path.

I have to agree with EvilHorace. In my wild and young and foolish days, I've done: pot, hash, and qualudes. Note on the qualudes - I usually gave most away and they were prescription, but they were a big hit in the 70's. Luckily for me, the qualudes only lasted less than a year. I usually had one for the weekend on a Friday night. It was like drinking a 6-pack without the hang over feeling.

For hash, I probably only smoked it 5 times or less, as I did pot quite a bit in the 70's until I decided to get married in 79, so I quit smoking cigarettes and pot, and I've never had it since. As EvilHorace mentioned, looking back I wish I had never done any, but at the time, most of my friends were smoking so it was pretty easy to come buy (smoking pot). These friends I still know, and they have only cut back from their smoking days. As for making people lazy or not motivated, the only draw back for me was smoking pot made me hungry for munchies.

Those who are druggies and say things like "it expands your mind, blah, blah, blah" (commonly heard by many in the late '60s, early '70s when LSD, etc was popular) are totally full of it. Sure, when you're there you're also easily fooled into believing that there's some truth in that BUT looking back from a sober point of view, I can tell you that there's no real truth to any of it. The "mind expanding experiences" simply aren't worth what the stuff's doing to you and your mind is better expanded via books, non-drug experiences and/or education.
Those of us who've been there also know all about peer pressure, which makes things almost impossible if you're with a group doing drugs and you wanted to pass up on the experience. Most guys would then say you're wussing out, chicken, turning "narc" or whatever BUT IMO, if that's the crowd you're hanging with, you'ld be better off finding new friends who don't do drugs and yes, I know that's easier said than done but you'ld be better off in the long run.

When I have time I will post my thoughts and expierences in the drug world.

Dad pretty much sums it up for me and I quote him,

"To sum it up I have been there done that and thank God every day that I escaped the lifestyle while I still had a life worth living. The odds were against me and it was only a matter of time before I would have lost that if I continued on that path"
I'm not lazy by nature, I work very hard at being lazy.

No they were right about the "expanding you mind" thing... that is EXACTLY what happens and presses your eyes and makes you see all the ****.

Whew, wasn't sure if this was gonna get locked or not. :)

I know the chemistry behind most drugs, and thier long term affects.
In my psych class, a friend of mine put that poem up, on a huge poster.

Maybe it's just me getting older and noticing it more, but people seem to think that they NEED them, even pot, some people I know swear by it, only way to have a good time for them, kinda sad really... :(

as many don't know, within a 20 mile radius is the prime grow op area, theres anywhere from 1-2 $1,000,000 op busts every month.... out of the city, all gangs seem to like this area... heavily wooded, mass amounts of open land. I wish I could find a link to show you the last bust... so intercate, heavily protected. (booby traps, i've tripped 2 of them first hand already @ at different site by accident)

My high school of 500 students, i'd say 1/4 smoke pot atleast! I've counted once, just my class, and there were only 8 sober kids outta 22!

But there must be a positive side for some people? There is legal pot for people with illness's, helps them escape from pain so they say...

This is crazy, you guys talking about the 70's... it must of been insane back then!

Ever hear of Salvia? 2c-i? stuff like that before? Salvia is legal in Canada. Abd 2c-i are those RC's... from underground websites... these 2 drugs seem to be making the biggest impact around here... other than meth.

Hehe, you should have seen work places. My first place of employment in 1973, you could actually walk outside the plant and smoke pot right outside the door. No one really cared. The only deal was not to get caught by the cops. Hell, I remember even smoking pot in my car when I drove, and I never got in any accidents. Even to this day, I've never caused an accident while driving.
