Why is my latency so damn high???

Post by Karchiveur »

Alright, I can download at 120 kb/s and upload at 1/2 of that.... Now what I do not understand is why When i play my beloved brood wars (b.net) it lags.. so bad... I can't even move my SCV around... no one can join my games... and I right out lag like worse than Dial up! but yet i can still play BF2 without a hitch!

why is this so?
I close DC ++
I close Limewire
I close F@H (i know.. i know..but i had to)

And i still lag on BW! :mad

any idea's?

None of my friends lag tho...
I've got wireless I-net.. firbre optic cable runs to the tower.. than i-net via tower and my reciever. And the tower is about 150 yards away from my reciever.. i can see it perfectly from the reciever... so it's not the connection?

Yah, but the latency is probably due to the distance the signal has to travel between your receiver and the tower.. I know with Sattellite internet you have constant latency because of the distance (I know it's a lot further but it's the same idea) between the dish and the sat. So that could be the issue.. But not 100% sure..

Alright it makes sense...
until BF2 doesn't lag at all, and i'm sure it demands more latency than BW ever could...

try a traceroute to the server, it might be a router somewhere causing the problem.
