I put my spare PC together and it's networked so I copied my UT and Q3 files from this PC into the older PC.
This PC has a Geforce2 GTS card and the older parts spare PC has a V3 with beta V3 drivers and DirectX8. I can play all the older games fine on the spare PC, UT runs fine on it as it BUT when I start Q3 (v 1.17) on that PC, the blue startup screen starts then says:
"GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load openGL subsystem"
Can anyone here tell me what I need to add to Q3 to make it run on that PC?
Copied Q3 with V3 in older system error "open gl subsystem"

Yo pimp daddy,
That is a driver issue & i would normally say grab the latest drivers for the V3 and ensure you have 1.48 miniGL installed.
PS: You could also try the WickedGL, FP would probably be the one to give you the lowdown on this, i'm not sure which way is better MiniGL 1.48 or WickedGL..

Maybe WickedGL because the other doesn't have anything to do with Q3 from what I can see.
I no longer have WickedGL on my machines here and from doing a search, all I get are old dead links.
Anyone have any ideas where I can get workable drivers for Q3?

There's no miniport for Q3. Standard OpenGL should work - make sure you select "Standard OpenGL" and not "Voodoo OpenGL" in the Q3 video menu.
Make sure you don't have a file called OPENGL32.DLL in the Q3 folder.
You can try the WickedGL miniport. It does work with Q3 and performance is a bit better than standard OpenGL with a V3. Get it at Wicked3D.com
More than likely your problem is that you need to re-install Q3 clean or else copy the Q3 registry from the other computer. Q3 stores some things in the registry. I've never tried copying Q3 from system to system so I don't know if it works. It does with all other Quake engine games - usually.

I tryed another added fresh install of Q3 on another partition and it runs fine so apparently it just doesn't copy well like the other games have. I don't know where any Q3 registry info can be found as I didn't see any looking through from 'regedit'.
In the older copied version that errors on startup, I can't get to the part where I can change video options as it gives me that error the moment it starts.
Guess it's no big deal patching the new install and adding my newer maps to it. Things could be worse heh?
Thanks.
