A federal trial court in Chicago has ruled recently that the ancient legal doctrine of trespass to chattels (meaning trespass to personal property) applies to the interference caused to home computers by spyware...

And sure why not? The networks are liable for file sharing, why not sue corporations for abduction of precious cycles? I think Theft is a felony last time I checked, maybe it's a misterminor (I'm not good with laws)

i agree. it would be cool to sue over used cpu cycles. the logic could be "i paid a lot of money to have the fastest cpu available...you used x% of the cpu's power with your illegal spyware crap...now you will PAY"

I don't see why you couldn't if that one guy got charged for stealing them by that university or whatever it was he was using the PCs for folding... I know I read that somewhere?

LOL! I didn't know that.. The only thing I occaisionally visit Anands for is the FS/FT area.. :) At least I wasn't talking out my rear and was right about reading that lol
