Networking and broadband talkabout. Need help with that new router or setting up a network?

Networking Problems

I have just connected two computers together via an internal PCI router. Problem is the computer with the pci card in can acces the other pc but not the other way around!!!!!!!!!! Tried to connect via a crossover cable instead and take out the pci card, but same problem. Can any one out there help???

The second computer just keeps saying it dosent have access to the workgroup and and please contact the server administrator to see if you have permission to use this network. (the server administrator would be me)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On main comp, ASUS P4V8X-X MOB with built in LAN, on second pc, Netgear FA310TX Network card, and connected with a CAT 5E patch crossover cable

Did you run the network setup wizard on both PCs?

have you set the workgroup names on both computers so they are the same?, also if running WinXp it may be the fact you dont have the same username and password on both computers have you got the guest login activated on one but not the other?

The workgroup is set to the same, guest login is deactivated on both, and login and username is the same on bothas well. Still coming up 'you may not have permission to use this network rersource, contact the server administrator to see if you have access permission'

Yippieeeeee, Done it, damn firewall was preventing access to the main computer.
