Yeah, I'm still kind of worried that XP Pro won't utilize the dualcore processor well...

there are still a lot of apps, esp anti-virus/spyware that don't work right under the 64bit os....xp pro for the win - once you have everything up and running smooth you can always toss in another hd with 64 on it for fun...

Ditto. Still buggy, poor driver support, some games don't run properly. If you want to experiment with XP64 then do a dual boot XP32/XP64 install, but don't rely on XP64.

Yeah, I'm still kind of worried that XP Pro won't utilize the dual core processor well...



the dual-core cpu support is primarily hardware based, along with the BIOS. i assume XP Pro will recognize it as two individual processors (in Task Manager), just as Intel's hyperthreading registers as two processors (even though it is not).

i would not be concerned about it...either the motherboard supports the dual core cpu's or it doesn't...the OS won't care. (of course there may be applications that benefit from it more than others...) :)
