Hesitant noob at building computers

This is the first time that I'm attempting to build my own computer. I've done all the research, and I think I know what parts I want. I'm still feeling a little hesitant as to whether these parts are compatible with each other. If a person or two could just confirm that I shouldn't have any problems with my system, that would be great. I would also appreciate any suggestions or things that I should look out for. I'd get a better power supply.. You're getting good stuff every where else, don't skimp on that.. The PSU could make or break your system..

How much better do you think the power supply needs to be?

It's not really the wattage.. It's the brand name.. I would recommend anything by Antec, Zalman, SeaSonic, PC Power and Cooling.. I know they're more expensive, but again, not someplace you want to go cheap.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+? You must have more money than God. That's a very pricey CPU.

For that nice a rig, you should be spending around $100 for a decent PSU. Something like this:

what the others have said about the power supply, esp. with a dually! we have all learned that lesson the hard way

- you can't go wrong with a good antec

personally I would look at a seagate HD. Longest warranty in the business....then what everyone else said.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm going to buy the psu that Flying Penguin suggested. The motherboard that I'm getting supports SATA II so I figured that I would try out some Hitachi SATA II HD's. Their warranty isn't bad, 3 years. I can also get them a little cheaper than the Seagates. Anyone think I'm making a mistake?

A 4400+! plain whooooaaaa :chug

And no doubt as others mentioned, stay far far away from that rosewill psu.

I didn't see it mentioned unless I missed it, but what cpu cooling you using? I'd suggest anything from Thermalright or the Venus 12 from Thermaltake. If you don't plan to overclock and want quiet, the Tt golden orb II may be a good choice. Or a quiet fan on any of the thermalright coolers.

You already order the case?

Hrmm...are there any models by Thermatake that you would reccomend for overclocking? I haven't ordered the case yet...

Yeah the system should be beastly...if I get the right parts. Anyone have any idea how much I can overclock the cpu?
