An LCD Monitor to Die For...

Post by FlyingPenguin »

...and I just bought one. :D

My 18 year old (YES 18 year old - still looks pretty good) projection TV in the living room just doesn't do my new HTPC justice (no s-video - only composite input) so I went out shopping for a replacement with the wife today.

This was on sale for $1,999 at BestBuy. I was originally looking at a Mitsubishi rear projection TV for around $1500 but this thing just blue me away.

Dang thing even has an SVGA PC input on it! :chug

Wow! Very nice choice. I'm still using my 36" tube TV that I bought in 2000. No plans to upgrade it just yet unless I buy the wife some more shoes. :D

No idea yet what the PC looks like on it. Won't be delivered until Monday :(

Frankly I was just planning on getting a tube type rear projector and connecting the HTPC via s-video. But I'm DEFINATELY going to try hooking it up via the SVGA jack and see what it looks like.

I don't use the HTPC for anything but video and music playback, but if the image looks legible enough for it, I may use it for casual browsing as well. I'll be VERY interested to see how good it looks.

This is a VERY nice TV. It really blew me away at the store, and the SVGA input only sweetend the deal for me.

That is a very nice TV I will only lever have one of those in my dreams. My husband would love it if we could afford one.
