Windows Locator ?
Windows Locator ?
Hi lately I was having a 25-30 seconds delay till I get my Internet connection working, after trying a lot of thing I went to the LAN properties and uncheck the Windows Locator service, now its fixed ... now the question is do I need that service... what was the problem... thanks

Augix. First off are you on Comcast? They're having DNS issues (see my post in this forum).
You found a Windows Locator service in the list of protocals and services for your network interface? No, you don't need that. You don't need QoS service either. All you need checked is Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Printer Sharing for MS Networks (if you share files or printers), and TCP/IP.
