HP Laserjet 2100

Post by eGoCeNTRoNiX »

Hey All,

Have an HP LaserJet 2100 that is printing jibberish whenever the computer that is hooked up to it is turned on. Any ideas what could cause that? Appreciate any info, I'm googling like crazy to see what I can find out.

Could be a faulty printer cable.

mine had a reset button on the inside. try that. also on my 1100 if you hold down the power button some times that clears things also.

I don't have physical access to the printer, it's at my g/f's work and it just bugs her. I will tell her to look in the manual and see if there is any info on resetting it. I'll also tell her about holding the power button down. It is kind of like Ghost Printing.. It's weird..

somebody may have run a print job with the wrong pritner/text settings, and every time it is turned back on it keeps printing it...make sure that all print jobs are cancelled...we have a couple of those here at work and never had any real issues with them for about 3 years...GL

Like WVJohn says, if someone printed to it using the wrong driver, it'll print pages and pages of gibberish. Open the printer's property window on the computer that it's connected to and pause then clear print jobs.

The printer's memory may still be full of pages to print though so you should also power cycle or reset the printer.

i agree with everyone...it could also be an old virus too that would print out junk to printers...that pc would have to be waaaaaaaaay out of date with virus protection (or have none) to get it though.
