I've been having this problem for a while now and its REALLY getting on my nerves.
Every once in a while when I'm doing something my computer automatically reboots itself. I could be listening to music, watching a video, scanning a image, editing HTML, surfing the net etc. It's happened while doing anything imaginable.....so that was about 3 months ago and i finally did a clean format (FDisk and all) about a month ago but the problem never went away. So I assume this is a hardware problem but i don't know what could be wrong. Please help!! It happens around 5 times a day. It's already happened about 8 times already today.
Spontaneous Automatic Computer Reboots
I have had that problem before and in my case it has always turned out to be ram gone bad. Not saying that is all it can be just that it has always been bad ram for me. Power supply could also be causing this and is something to look at. If you have two or more sticks or ram installed I would try pulling them and running with one at a time as a starting spot.

Go to your System Properties (Right click My Computer and select Properties or go through the Control Panel). Then select the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under the Startup and Recovery section. Uncheck Automatically Reboot and see if it is a BSOD causing the reboot. If it is, copy down the information and post it here. It would help us be able to figure out what could be wrong.

Do what Busby recommends. Windows will auto reboot during a fatal error by default, but when it does that it also revents you from seeing the error. By disabling auto reboot you may see an error message that gives you some clue.
You may have an IRQ Channel sharing problem. This is not an IRQ conflict and I explain it in detail here:

It's not all that common anymore unless you have a Sound Blaster Live or an add-on SCSI card.
RAM and PSU problems are next biggest causes of problems like these.
