Sound and ethernet drivers for MSI K8T Neo2-F motherboard?

Sound drivers on cd-rom are NOT for my built in sound.

I've got a new mobo, cpu (AMD 64 3500+), memory and everything's fine EXCEPT that I'm presently unable to find/install correct, functional drivers for its onboard sound and ethernet.
The manual isn't specific on this and the cd-rom that came with my mobo doesn't have the correct drivers.
I went to MSIs site, found the board where it lists the correct devices:

Audio

* 8 channels software audio codec RealTek ALC850
* Compliance with AC97 v2.3 Spec.
* Meet PC2001 audio performance requirement.

LAN

* Realtek® 8110S Dual layout
* Integrated Fast Ethernet MAC and PHY in one chip.
* Supports 10, 100Mb/s and 1000Mb/s

.yet I'm still unable to get drivers working for either. When I found and tryed to install the correct drivers for the RealTek sound, I got a warning:

"Warning, need Microsoft bus driver installed before installing sound drivers."

Anyone know exactly what THAT means? No other driver issues seen in device manager besides sound and ethernet controllers.

Everything else is A-OK.
The ethernet card isn't a big deal as my older PCI nic works but I would like sound w/o needing to buy another sound card (my old SB Live isn't ideal anymore, especially with Win XP).

Anyone here have a new MSI motherboard and run into this?

That's exactly where I got the drivers BUT still......they don't work

I tryed those before I posted this.

This simply amazes me as something so seemingly simple shouldn't be so difficult IMHO.

have you tooken the info from the chips and went to Realtek's website? they will have the drivers there for the sound and network

haven't played with via in a long time but i remember that unless you had their 4/1 drivers loaded properly stuff didn't work

That's a possibility (4/1 drivers) but there's no documentation stating that that's what I need to do, so I havent rushed into trying that yet. I don't want to install anything that could cause a problem.
My old Abit BH-6 needed those but the book was specific about installing them too.

They're available from the link FP posted above so I'd think that they'ld be OK? The info there about those drivers isn't what I'd consider to be 100% specific either.

I think maybe you're just not familiar with WinXP driiver installs. They can be confusing compared to Win2K, and a lot depends on how the driver is designed to be installed. You need to read whatever README files come with the drivers.

If the driver has a SETUP.EXE file then you MUST use this to install the drivers. After the drivers are installed it'll usually want to reboot and then WinXP will automatically detect the hardware but since the drivers are installed now, it'll just setup up the device.

Some drivers you need to use the Driver installation wizard for, but there's 2 different ways it can work.

Sometimes you need to use the first option in the wizard "Install drivers automatically (recommended)". However that usually doesn't work unless the drivers are on a CD.

Usually you need to use the 2nd option "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)". You then check the box for "Include this location in the search" and then click the Browse button to browse to the location of the folder that the driver is located (driver must be unzipped into this folder).

As mentioned by WVJOHN, though, you MUST install the VIA 4 in 1 drivers FIRST so the PCI bus drivers will be installed. You can't install any PCI devices without that 4-in-1 driver installed.

I'd recommend using whatever 4-in-1 driver is posted on MSI's site since the latest one from VIA might not be certified for that mobo yet.

I installed the 4 in 1 drivers, got the ethernet drivers working. I then discovered that I had somehow managed to DL yet another audio driver (another page yesterday), NOT the one above afterall. Don't know how I got that but....
The new driver installed and now I have sound too.

There are still 2 more issues but I'll make new threads as they're unrelated
