You're too cheap. My minimum is $50 an hour. Although I'm usually nice enough to do a quick tuneup if the job takes less than an hour.
I avoid clients with kids though. Business is good enough I can pick and choose. Kids are a problem.

MX700 batteries were dead and the mouse wouldn't work (obviously). Putting the mouse in the base station and it just sat blinking red. I ended up going to his apartment (was going there anyways) and then realized the problem. The charger was plugged into a switched outlet and the switch was off.

This is the ID10T issue I can across alot as an Office Depot Tech.
Here is a good one, It didnt happen to me but a Lady Called and said she couldnt get her scanner to work, now during this time scanners were a pain in the ass to get functioning so it was actually troubleshot, nothing worked, so the guy said ok bring it in and we will hook it up.
Woman arrives without the scanner, she said its too big to carry, So Tech guy goes OK No Problem!
lets look at the model you have, he walks her to the scanners, she says nope mine is on other isle.
Walks to other isle, which has monitors. Tech was confused. Asked lady to show what she was doing..
The woman takes a protection plan thingy, places it against monitor screen and hits the Enter Key on KB.
Problem : Scanner was actually a PC monitor.
Solution : Woman needs to get pc box up and return to store, to dumb to work one.

this is a bit old school, but still memorable. i was a lab 'consultant' at penn state, where they had plenty of macs (read: doorstops). back then, those things would have a nasty habit of not ejecting your 3.5" disk through the o/s.... and of course there is no hardware eject button on those things, so I pull out my handy dandy paper clip and stick it in that itty bitty hole on the front.
please mr. macintosh, can I have my disk back now?

LOL Good stuff guys,
Best on ever for me was at work years ago.. A sales guy tell me his mouse woun't work right. I go in there and hes sliding the mouse and PAD around wounding why the pointer isn't moving much.. I flip the upsidedown mouse pad over so the rubbery part was down and it worked just fine after that!!

Best call I can remember right now is having to tell a customer to put batteries into a cordless mouse. Second best was showing a customer that you don't put both batteries into a mouse in the same direction.

Had a gal call me one time to fix her CD-ROM and that her CD was stuck in it. So I walk to the other building from where I'm at and go to her desk and she points me to the computer. I look at it and go "Where's the CD-ROM?" She points to it. Well, "it" was a 5.25" Floppy drive.. I laughed so hard I almost burts into tears. She's like what's so funny, I reached up on her desk and grabbed one of the floppies and said "This is what goes in there." She was very embarassed, it took me about an hour to fish the CD-ROM out of the floppy drive (at this time I had no authorization to tear computers apart heh).
