More DVD woes...

Post by JD »

Using nero 6, I'm getting constant errors when trying to burn. I keep getting "Focus or tracking error" or "Track fixation" errors. I cant even get it to perform a simulation without coming up with an error message. From what I understand, this is not a media related error. But just to be safe, I tried different media as well. No luck. I did some googling, but didnt come up with much anything. Some said it could be heat related. Shutting down, cooling off for a few hours and starting fresh results in the same error. I'm about ready to send this POS back for a new one. The drive is a matshita uj-811.

i've only seen errors like that with bad drives. i had an external USB cdrw that gave calibration and track errors. all other drives (internal and external) would burn perfectly on the same pc...with the same nero 6 install.

Thats what I'm afraid of...

The error I get most often is "Unspecified target error". I can not get any burns to complete sucessfully now :(

Definately sounds like a bad drive.
