Does this mobo support dual channel DDR?

Post by Executioner »

I have this ASUS P4PE mobo with a P4 2.4GHz cpu.

I have 2 sticks of 512mb Curcial PC2700 placed in slot 1 and 3. Will I be able to have dual channel mode, or do I have to have a special mobo with that support built in?

Tried searching google but nothing comes up real clear. Found this if it helps any:

We were waiting to test the new 845PE chipset but they have released another new chipset, Granite Bay i7205 chipset. The 845PE is nothing more than a 845E with Hyper threading and official DDR 333 support. On the other hand i7205 supports Dual Channel DDR and AGP 8x but it doesn't support DDR333. Dual Channel requires you to install two sticks of memory instead of one and pumps data from two channels

I 'guess' if your mobo has that i7205 chipset, then it does. Looks like yours doesn't. Tried searching the asus site and couldn't find anything. Even in the specs for that mobo. That's amazing. :;

But, I've tried with and without and cannot see any diff at all. From what I've seen and read, dual channel is overblown hype.

Thanks for looking Mike. Just like xsiled stated, I did not think so either but wanted to make sure. I heard that it can give you an additional 10% boost in performance.
