Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB Tv-Out problem
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB Tv-Out problem
I hook up the adpater to change it from s-video to tv-out, hook up everything correctly, switch to the correct input on my VCR, and nothing happens. The tv icon in display, advanced settings is x'd out in red. I force it to detect my tv and nothing happens. Any ideas?

You sure you're using the correct s-video to composite video adapter for your card? There are different adapters. Some don't work with some cards. Best to use the one that came with the card.

Could Be
That your TV or VCR does not support 75 Ohm at the input. You may HAVE to use an RF Modulator to get it to work. I did on my TV... GL

I can highly recommend the S-video cables from these guys. They work with all computers I've tried them on so far, including lappies that don't work with standard s-video cables. The 24' cable is a bargain for $14

They ship promptly.
Ego is correct, some rare TV models don't present a proper 75 ohm load (which is how the card knows it's connected to a TV). Usually the "Force detection" in the monitor settings overrides this, but you never know.

Yup. I've tried their cables on litterally dozens of computers with both connectors, and it's always worked. I'm using one myself on my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, which should use an identical S-video output as your card.

Pro is a cable with s-video to composite video and stereo audio (mini stereo and an s-video conenctors on one end, 3 rca jacks on the other end). If you need to run audio to the TV as well, might as well get the pro cable.
The regular cable is just svideo to composite video with no audio.
I generally use seperate audio & video cables (former sound engineer - I have dozens of audio cables lying around).
