i have an older laptop here that is has a corrupt operating system.
i would love to reinstall windows but the only problem is there is no cd rom drive.
any tips appreciated and direction to a cheap external cd rom drive is greatly appreciated

USB would be out I assume since it's "Older". I suggest you get a PCMCIA CD-Rom to boot the OS from. Check Egay or on the forums.

thanks for the link but damn 45 bones is a bit steep
im googling around pcmcia drives now
i bet the laptop couldnt even sell for 50 bucks
its a p2 450 compaq job

or you could pull the hd and mount it on something else to load the os
btw the computer repair shop next door regularly get ~$250+ for machines in that range that work
problem with lappies is always the propietary drivers but you can sometimes do it from the driver updates section of on the mfgr website

ive given up on it and have passed it back to the previous owner
the joys of working with older hardware
