What's the deal with Gmail accounts ? I noticed people selling them , fighting over them etc .
I don't know anything about them except it's some kind of invite email ???

Gmail is makin' a very limited (test) offerin'. i submitted my "interest" in obtaining an a/c several weeks ago; nothin' yet.
u can do the same by enterin' ur EM addy @ bottom o' This Link.
and y, i believe those who actually do get an a/c, can "invite" a limited # o' people ( i believe is 5 people ).
i'm not holdin' my breath
, but you ne'er know. i reckon 1,000 megabytes o' free space 2 be mighty fine.

My ISPs emailaccount comes with 10MB space and it's more than enough for me. Yahoo just upped their emailspace to 100MB for their free accounts (2GB for paying customers) ... who needs so much space for emails anyways?
Another issue with gmail are the potential privacy risks that you have with (all) webbased emailservices.

That's why I was wondering what the big deal was . I noticed on a couple of other forums there were people arguing over them like the accounts were the "must have" to continue on the internet . I have a 10MB ISP account and a 100 MB yahoo account and I can't imagine needing more space . ??
Thanks for the info darcy , I did enter my email addy at the page you pointed me to . If I get an invite you can have it

not really. they've been doing something similar to this for awhile now, with google context based adds. I think AT uses them. I adblock em off, though. but that's just meOriginally posted by dadx2mj

I bought an invite on ebay, $2, why not? I've heard of all the privacy concerns, but if you think any of the other big webmails don't do it, you're wrong. They just don't admit it. Anyway, hotmail and yahoo are both upgrading their storage. Hotmail is going to 2GB with their paid account.
