What can be done about this HD ?

Post by ShibasScotch »

linky

What can I possibly do about this harddrive?
This picture is the same thing that happened to my QFB at work here, it would be nice to get the data, nothing critical, but would be less time consuming... anyone have a way to fix this?

As you can see in the pictures in the link, that one chip just burned out. This company says they can recover it, is it possible in any way for me to do it ?

thanks !

As Ego said - you need an identical drive and swap out the electronics, although that doesn't help if the head mechanism is damaged.

What that company and companies like it do is remove the platters and mount them in a rig that lets them read the data. It's expensive because it has to be done in a clean room environment.
