Price Range would help.. heh.. :)

I have a JVC GRV520 er something.. *runs to get it* heh.. GR-DVL520 I got it for $300 (well, my dad did) which I thought was a steal on it. And I really like it. Very easy to use. Lots of nice features.. But you can spend more money and get much better..

I gotta canon ZR60, I like it but it suffers from bad low light performance as all single ccd dv cams do

Another vote for the Canon ZR60. I have it's younger brother the ZR45 and I'm very happy with it.

I have the JVC GR-D72u and like it. It does a little better in low light than the Cannon but not much.

Have alook here for info on various makes and models.

I got the Sony DCRTRV38 a few months back and it's fantastic. The picture quality is amazing with the Carl Zeiss lens. It might be out of your price range but they do have others of course...

I have the sony trv33. it is an AMAZING camera! had it almost a year now and I love it. it is so small, does everything, and is a digital camera with the built in memorystick so I can tak 1megapixel digital pictures.

tapes are usually $20 for a 3 pack of quality tapes. (I could be wrong, I just bought 20 tapes i na huge lot when I got my camera)

tripod ranges from anywhere from $20 to well over $100 but a cheapone will get the job done. You also might want to look into a mono pod if you are taking it on vacation. they are very nice. give you very steady pictures with out all the weight of a bug ass tripod.

extra batteries. sony has 3. the one it comes with is the normal size and lasts well over 1 tapes worth of movie making and costs $50 retail, then there is the 1.5 size one...and as you guessed it lasts 1.5x as long and costs an extra $50 bringing ot to $100. then there is the 2x battery and it is really big and heavy but will probably last you a full day of shooting but will cost you about $150 <-- all are best buy pricing (retail costs) it is 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours

it comes with its cheap lens cover. what I did was buy a 2x zoom lens and a .7 wide angle lens at best buy. each costing $30 and they have there own lens covers.

Get the lexar 128 memory stick online for like $40 or there abouts on pricewatch
