Decided to try it again.....

Post by DaMaN »

Got another 2 SATA WD Raptors. this time the 74GB Flavor.
Had the 36Gb ones prior. I am very impressed with the speed again, they are quieter IMHO and run a bit cooler I feel. I chose a larger stripe (128K) this go round vs. the small 16K stripe i used in the past. I see better transfer times with BIG files vs with the small stripe I saw faster access times. These drives truly rock and I love the long warranty period (5 years).

These are my Raptors on my recently RMA'd MSI KT6 Delta LSR ( cold boot probs ) w/ 32K stripe & 32K cluster....

DFI o/b sil3114 RAID controller is not anywhere near as good as the VIA 8237 southbridge integrated SATA/RAID.
