USB modems
USB modems
Anyone have anything good/bad to say about usb modems? Now that I've found out about my ISP upgrading their system to 56kb I thought I'd get a modem.

I've used the Diamond Supra USB modems - they work well.
However if you're planning on doing any serious gaming you'll be better off with a US Robotics external serial modem. Almost all USB modems are software modems, and soft modems aren't good for gaming,

once upon time i had a couple of usb modems that were hardware modems which worked fine - all i remember was that they had US robotics chipsets - otherwise i have used them and they are fine - you can sometimes find the USR externals real cheap which were also very good - usb is pretty much plug and play though - never had any issues
