Will it help CD burning any? My HDs are off a PCI Promise card and I only have DVD-ROM and a DVD and CD burner attached on-board. I'm skeptical about it because the nVidia IDE SW driver has caused me to burn some bad DVDs. Any input would be helpful.

you are talking about the original nvidia ide drivers or the new ones- I personally ditched the original nforce ones for the windows xp driver- but I tried these new beta ones out and they are better performance wise then the XP ones
No ill effects as of yet with my dvd or cd burner
