CD ROM problems (open and wont shut)

Post by ©LINT »

I have a Sony CD-RW. I came home yesterday and installed a 56k modem :(

Restarted and it will not stay closed. I hear it start to spin and spit out the tray.. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it.. same crap..

Should I tear it down and see if anything is inside? Try a new PCI slot? or is it just screwed ?

Thanks,

Clint S.

hum, WD40 and DuctTape are a geeks best friends.

Then there is also a Sledgehammer, in cases such as this, where WD40 and Ducttape wont work :)

Last night, the wife came home and said "oh you fixed it?" I looked and it was in.. doh.. wft now..

So i put a cd in and My Computer crashes when I try to play one..

So I restart, and BAM! out she pops again :D

I had a bunch of AT cases laying around.. 2-3bay but I have thrown away most of them. But I will be taking about 5-6 old 286-486 class machines to PCA2K4 for sacrifice to the gods. But, I may also trade out parts to be destroyed for bawls and other stuff.. he he.. I'm gonna have my truck bed full of schtuff..
