I liked my cannon I850 so much when I got it I went out and got a second one for a spare

We all use the first one on the home network, it's connected to the wifes computer. I finaly took the spare out of the box when I set up my office in town at the ISP. Great quality, seperate ink tanks, clear so you can see the ink level, make it nice for refilling. Very low cost printing since I refill. After about year I am still using the original tanks in the first printer, can't count how many times I refilled them

They don't wear out, and very easy to refill!
Wife complained when I bought the first one, it was $150 then, she wanted to know why I couldn't just get a cheapo wall mart printer, like I told her then, cost of the printer is nothing, it's the cost of the ink that gets you! After a couple weeks she took the printer and said nothing when I bought the second one
As for a scanner, I always liked the low cost musteks. They have always worked well for me and no problems. Currantly we each have a scaner. Wifes is a model 5800 visioneer, Mine is a Umax I think. Both work great.
I never tried an all in one, being able to use it as a copier without a computer turned on would be useful to me.
As for printing cds, epson makes some. I think a model r300 is about $179 if you find them. Currently sold out in the epson store, pricewatch only came up with one store. Epson has ather models also, but cost more, and you have to watch out for all in one type ink tanks and chip counters.
All in ones are not cost effective if you do alot of printing. If you refill, not too bad, but if you toss them and replace, then when you run out of yellow and have lots of red/blue left you are throwing away good usable ink.
In refilling I see I am using nearly twice as much yellow as the other two colors, that's alot of ink I'd be tossing out for nothing!
Chips counters are an attempt to stop you from refilling! They basically count how many times the printheads fire then say time to change cartriges. They don't actually check to see if your out of ink, many times the cartrigs still have ink, but the chip says time to change anyways. You can buy a chip resetter if your going to be refilling. All in ones are sometimes harder to refill, not to bad if you can see the level of ink, but if they are dark or black where you can't see inside then it's more difficult.
Alot of the people I've talked to lattely say they once tried refilling and made such a mess they don't bother anymore. Refilling is not really messy if you do it right, especailly if you have single color tanks instead of all in ones. I've been doing my own for many years, never a problem, but all in ones can be tricky, I had a little trouble with HP color tanks like in the cheapy wall mart printers.
We do tons of printing around here, much more than the normal home user!
