I had the Fujifilm DX9, it was decent for low res pics, the 3x optical zoom was definitely nice.

I'd like a new camera that meets the following requirements:

either smartmedia or compactflash upgradeability
at least 2-3x optical zoom. digital zoom is negligible.
usb connectivity
1 megapixel or greater
capable of 1024x768 or less
rechargeable battery (LiON, etc)
$300 or less (good if it can be found at buy.com too) Thanks!

Sam,

I would recommend the Olympus D-600L, I got mine from msand9898. It absoutely is superb, now that I know what I am doing with it. Great pictures! I know that edblor had one on the boards like forever and kept on bringing it back, but his was listed for 500. Who knows, maybe he still has it and will accept less.

I know that my friend Bill that is VERY into photography, infact thats what I built his computer for, uses Nikon Cameras. I don't remember the names, but the ones he has not are like 5 or 6megapixels. If he still has his 1-3 megapixel cameras and they meat your requirements would you like me to ask him if hes interested in selling them? I know he has like 8 digital cameras or something like that.

Frost.

Thanks for the link diabolix, very helpful.
Dave, i was looking at that exact model today at bestbuy, very sweet, but retail is pretty pricey! looks great.

frost, would appreciate it if you could find me a deal. thanks!

I was at fry's today and was looking at their digital video cameras. i'm still studying those, but they look pretty interesting. 20x optical zoom, record on digital8 and smartmedia. takes stills and records movies, firewire connectivity, hmmm $800 for an all in one soln is pricey, but lookin very interesting!

Yeah we have one of the nice Sony digital8 camcorders. They really are nice, and battery life is great :)

Here is a pic taken with a Nikon 880.

It shows two Humpback Whaled bubble feeding about 40 miles out of Frenchmens Bay of the coast of Maine.
