how do you ping an isdn router?

how do you ping one like the one in the "anyone know what these are?" thread

what you can do is connect the router to a network card, then turn on the router, wait till it completes it boot cycle.

turn on the computer attached to the router

in the dos window type ipconfig /all

read the line that says "default Gateway"

at the prompt type ping 192.168.xxx.xxx or whatever the default gateway numbers were.

if you get a successful ping it will tell you how many packets you send (usually 64)
and how many were returned (usually 64)

results of the ping: i ran ipconfig /all and it found the ethernet but no default gateway was found. also i tried running ipconfig without it plugged into the isdn. it would not end the command until i plugged it back into the isdn. i did get this thing while it was sealed in a plastic bag, it has a 9 pin male D plug marked console, perhaps it is new and needs to have a gateway assigned to it?

probably needs to be set up. you can plug the 9 pin connector into a com port and hyperterminal into it. Your instruction manual would tell you how. It was brand new ? and unopened ?

yes it was sealed in a clear bag the end of the bag was melt sealed like tv remotes and stuff are sealed. the router and a grey rj45 cable and the fat cable that plugs into the port marked serial were in the bag. i got 2 of them like this. i got them from a comp store that folded. there was no manual unfortunatly. the power supply was with it too in a different sealed bag.
