It's a crap shoot. I've gotten refurb mobos that came with everything, still sealed, and looking like they've never been used. I've also rec'd a mobo in box in static bag w/ nothing else.

What I do is calculate what it will cost me to ship it back if I get a truly sorry package and weigh that against what I'm saving by getting a refurbed product.

I would think they would have stated that the case in question either had or didn't have a PSU in the advert for it, even if it was a refurb. To say you have to really read what's actually included would be an understatement. Might want to check the original ad if it's still up.

well i finally figured out why my temps were so high on the one barton machine.
i was runnin 12.6 v on the 12v rail for its entire life and the extra load made my die temps high?
and would that also explain all these random resets during gaming?
a friend told me that i could be killing my pc slowly and
im lucky that the machine hasnt died yet!!

scared the sh*t outta me so i just bought a thermaltake purepower 420w for 43 dollars from the egg
hope it does this machine some good!

well.. if the regulators in the PS are running high the regulators on the MB should be able to handel it... but givin that allmost no MB puts heat sinks on them, they are the parts that will slowly die and cause the rest of the board to die. the more over volts they have to deal with the more heat they will make. I put part of a video card heat sink on mine but now im regretting it that i have to RMA the crad it came form.

12.6 is right above + or - 5%. I don't think that .6v is going to raise your temps. You should be looking at your voltage in the bios and see how much higher it is than what you set the voltage to be.

I thought I had a similar symptoms with an Asus board, but my P4P8x doesn't like HT enabled chips.

in any case, you can't go wrong with getting the Purepower 420. It's a good power suppy.

and im sittin here freaking out !
in bios upon bootup it reads 12.74 on that rail
whats supposed to be a good reading on the 12v rail?
is it supposed to be around 11.9 or above 12?

i think the cheap 350 watter isnt cuttin it for 4 fans,2hdds, cold cathode, and cdrw/dvd drives
well at least since im ocing

ive been gettin too many random resets and my temperatures always fluctuate from 55-60 degrees celsius.
keep in mind this is using a newer zalman 7000 something(another waste of 43 dollars)
i would be browsing the web and all of a sudden ill hear it power off and then the screen just goes blank!!
fans still running and everything and ill have to soft power my sytem off!

too many good reviews on the purepower and it looked like a better buy then the 450 w aliied i was considering!

EDIT:

ok i noticed if i run 200+ fsb and the ram at 200 frequency my 12v rail goes up to 12.94!!??
i think im just gonna leave this machine off

I dont think that is all that bad. unless your rig is having probs then its fine.

What motherboard do you have ?

I'm using a Chaintech that reads. 12.4, but in windows reads 12.6. What you need to look at too is what voltage your processor is running at. Try setting it back to defaults for the Front side bus, and default voltage, then look at your CPU voltage. The reason I say this is because the same Chaintech motherboard shows lower voltages. I set it to 1.725v, and it reads 1.68v.

Also, you may want to make sure your heatsink is seated correctly. You may have to take your motherboar out of the case, and look at it from the side to make sure it's making good, correct contact.

this is on an a7n8x

i have my vcore set at 1.65 however bios always shows it as 1.71 volts?
im also assuming since its an older bios (1003) that it might have inaccurate readings!
im too puss to do a flash so i guess ill leave this bios for the time being.
3.3v rail shows as 3.38
and the 5v rail shows up as
4.94 or something like that

regardless its a turbolink 350w psu that comes with most cheap cases, i think its time to ditch this sucka

well ive returned everything to default settings
and here are my voltages according to mbm 5
barton is at 1.65 vcore, and ram is at 2.6v runnin 2,2,2,5 at 185x11

core 0
1.71 v

+3.3v
3.30v

+5.00
4.78v

+12.00
11.98v

-12.00
-12.51v

-5.00
-5.22 v

those votages seem good but i honestly feel something is wrong due to the way the leds on the fans consistently flicker and how my pc just reboots every other hour for no reason
