my tight ass will wait the extra 3 seconds it takes me to load up a game with my WD SE :D

Vid, are you getting any constant blips of disk activity?
I've mine in raid0 also and every 10-15s I get a bit of disk activity.

nope, not unless I'm doing anything. all quiet.

When you say activity, what do you mean exactly? Like you hear them more so than at other times ?

I hear them at all times - those raptors are anything but quiet.
But I notice hard drive activity sustained for about .5-1s about every 10-15s

I don't hear my Raptors at all. Mine are very quiet. Word is, if you're hearing any high pitched whine, they're running too hot and need some cooling directed their way. I have mine in a pair of Vantec Vortex HDD coolers.

What RAID controller or mobo are you using?

Could be a PSU issue too.
